Ram Jet Engine
The jet engine that almost brought England to her knees during WWII.
Those old enough to remember WWII will remember the German Buzz bombs over England. It wasn't the sound of this weapon growling overhead, but when the growling stopped, that scared everyone to death. Because then it was on it's way down, to explode. It wasn't called a terror weapon for nothing. This plan is for a similar jet engine. It is also a BUILD AT YOUR OWN RISK plan. It is simple to build using hardwood patterns to form sheet aluminum. Most parts are off-the-shelf items. Some light welding is required, but it's mostly bending and forming sheet metals, And, be very careful firing it up, if something is wrong, it will explode!
The buzz bomb was a pulse jet powered vehicle, no ramjet used.
Also pulse jets or ramjets don't explode. It's not a good description of a pulse jet.
I have never heard a ramjet "buzz".A buzz bomb "buzzed" because it had pulse jet mounted on it not a ramjet.

The Ramgen is an interesting idea. I don't see how it could be revolutionary, however because ramjets are not particularly efficient. Also, you could probably create an engine that has similar characteristics by placing two or more ramjets on an arm and point them in opposite directions much like the jet tipped helicopters from the past and get similar performance yet with less complexity. Or have I missed something?

super fuel loss until mach 2.5-2.7 is reached...

but, to be fair to ramjets, show me the fastest ramjet powered vehicle comapred to the fastest turbine vehicle!

also the ramjet tipped helicopters were quite easy to spot with the spinning flame, and made much weird noise, not really good for military use.

great for making a flying saucer hoax though!

I would avoid it in a wide circle.

he plan in question was available on the Internet at an earlier time. It was for
powering model boats, etc. I don't know if it is worth $12.00 plus shipping and
handling. It had little to do with what the German scientists were doing in WWII.

The principle is a regenerative heat exchanger, which simply equates to a pressure
jet. Performance figures are unknown to me. I do have a picture of a similar one
going around in a circle, since it was tethered to a rotating pole.

Thanks, Al. I was convinced that I had those plans somewhere but can't find them, so your documents is very much appreciated.

Hi Forrest,

I don't keep a list of my posts, so some duplication may occur.
When you are my age ( 64 ) you may also experience a " brain fart "
on occasion !!! :)

You will note that the new post contains the drawings and figures that were missing in the former post .

"The recommended material for fabrication of ram jet engine shells would be Type 310, 321, or 347 stainless steel, Typo 347 being the most suitable of the three."
That was interesting to me.
