A harder track is necessary for any higher speeds with jet propulsion, the slightest resistance and it affects the speed.

The fastest run of the weekend was made on a turbocharged Hayabusa, somewhere around 340km/h in top speed but it wasn´t official since the GPS failed to record it. Very impressive on that track!

No hidden message, just a more interesting end to the project than putting it on a sheft.

It was folded and dented from the rear support and I had no plans to continue working on it. It is also easier to store this way.

Stainless is expensive. you could have reused some of that engine's steel...

I´d rather pay the extra buck than having to straighten out work-hardened stainless cones...

ok fair enough but you still could have made a smaller engine by simply putting, say, the tailcone template on the TC tailcone and cutting it out. All you had to do then would be to roll the piece a bit further and re weld :P

Frankly I think that I am done with pulsejets, I have started working on a large gas turbine and will most likely stick to turbines from now on. I cannot get my head around all the workings inside a pulsejet and I don´t see much fun in building things that I cannot completely figure out.

It seems as I have to clarify that flattening the engine was no kind of statement or comment to the designer whom we all know, the engine itself performed fine but I had severe problems with the liquid fuelling at the low temps here in Sweden and after X months of testing and a race where the engine folded before I got to the start I just got deadly tired of pulsejets and felt a need to put an end to this project and start anew.

Sorry if I have upset anyone, but if so close your eyes and say to yourself ten times in a row: It´s only sheet metal, it´s only sheet metal etc etc...

Yeah and people are only carbon molecules :D

Hehe it's understandable that you are sick and tired of pj's after all the effort you put into it but reconsider ditching the hobby altogether. I've heard you mention in a tread that you spend xhundred dollars on some turbo's....just think of all the pj's you can make for that kind of money!

You also mentioned that you couldn't realy enjoy a hobby that you didn't understand....Like that ever stopped me; hell I still don't understand half of it and less still of the maths involved - screw that, I don't use ANY maths, realy.

just get it out of your system and continue with slightly less challenging .0001 micron tollerance models. (and use 1mm sheet: it doesn't buckle! :D )
