Show me a Useful Valveless Pulse Jet Engine.

Show me a useful valveless pulse jet engine. One that is practical that can do some work, like, power an airplane, push a car, push a boat, push anything even itself.
I have seen videos and everyone has their home built engine laying on the ground, laying on a concret floor or in a vise running. It appears to be a noise maker that burns a lot of fuel. The engines I see in videos that are just laying there do not produce enough thrust to push themself across the floor.
Ok so the big Lockwood engines will push a go cart and burn a whole 5 gallons of propane in a few minutes. It is not practical to burn that much fuel doing so little work.
I would really like to build one of these engines myself if someone can prove to me it is actually worth it. Lets see a video of a valveless pulse jet that is actually worth having? Where is it? I want to build one just like it if it really exist.
I am not being a smart ass I just don't want to build something that can not be used for anything. It seems to me a steam engine is more practical than a valveless pulse jet.

Will this do for you?
Want one?

Well, in terms of usefulness I think that pulse-jets are at the bottom of the list...
Valveless pulse jets are lightweight and cheap to build, but if you are going to propel a large vehicle it will need such amounts of fuel that it won´t be practical. The weight (and cost) of the fuel will outweigh the fact that the engine is lighter than a piston engine driving a propeller. Noice is also a big problem, so there is almost nowhere a pulse jet propelled vehicle can be driven without the risk of pissing off people.
Because of this relatively few build pulse jets for anything else than experimentation and fun.
In a month or so I should have my Thunderchine kick up and running, so stay tuned for thrust and speed readings.

Ah the eternal meaning of the word 'useful'...LOL!
There is no way that I could afford a jet turbine...there is no way I can even think of buying
a decent 2- stroke micro light engine and prop.Actually the thought of a turbine spitting a blade out in the
garage gives me a very high cringe factor.
But - by gum I can afford about $10 odd bucks for some scrap iron...bash them into shape
of a working pulse jet...slap it on my good wife's bike and scare all and sundry with it blatting
up and down the road.Did they same with a scooter as well.
Economic - I doubt it.Fun ? You betcha!
Rocketman - If you want to see something flying with a valveless pulse jet have a look at the
Russian Enics site. (
http://www.enics.ru)
These are definately useful if you're into governmental sponsered breaking of things I suppose...

Rocketman,
You did know that valveless PJ's are more fuel efficient (but bulkier) than valved ones, didn't you? Or was that also part of your question?

Well, all the moving parts in my valveless engines will interchange (no special wrenches required). I find that useful!
Kidding aside, the Escopette is a good one, but form follows function, so how do you intend to use one?

Is it just me or do targeting drones look really cool? I assume they are target drones cause of the orange, not even Google could translate that page
They do also look a bit like buzz bombs...scarily

Hi Zippiot,
If you're referring to the Enics drones - most of them are recon intel gathering units.
The yellow coloured ones are fired out after a multiple rocket area suppression strike to ascertain
damage. They also come in grey - and your standard Russian winter white.

Coolio, got any vids of them in action? All I could find were pics, the engine with the double intake and exhaust was interesting!

Hello,
My name is Barry & living in Belgium (europe). So i'am new here & reading all ready a lot.
Some years ago,I buy the cd from Eric Beck.I build already the small ones & these are very good runners.
The Escopette I build also & runs very good on Propane , really loud too.Almost all the people who living here in the street are coming out for looking what is happening.
He pushes the stand away.
Here some pics from mine.
And here one off the small ones:
greetings
Barry

Is there something I'm missing here, beck technologies have pulse jets with down to 1.2 TSFC and the concorde at cruise has 1.195
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrust_spe ... onsumption
and I think thats around where military jets are too, more speed means less efficient. And jets are very inefficient when pushing some with wheels on the ground.
