Thanks:

Eric, placed the injectors just within the intake flairs! I will see if I can achieve a piloted flame with it.

I planed on trying liquid fuels later as well.

The Cheat! What does your engine weigh?

The Beast weighs in at 2.5 lbs with the cool stand Eric put it on. The stand is most likly the .5 lb.......Jim

my jet weighs approximately 1.25lbs. Thrust is 1.5, so overall I'm getting a little over a 1:1 weight to thrust ratio.

Not bad! With some tweaking you could fly something that Light.

Did the link help you find the tube?

The flair on the intakes helps the engine draw in the air unrestricted. Like a funnel....Right.....

Eric built mine with scraps he had and of heaver S.S. As he gave me a

10,000 year warranty, I will not complain...Haaa!

If all works out I could still fly it on a two meter glider....Just for shits and

Grins..

For the liquid fueling on this type of engine, is there any original design meant for this engine?

I build the big engine for testing it with liquid fuels, so I need some ideas on how to do it. My first idea was to use a heat exchanger coiling around the cc and two nozzles at the intakes?

What do you think? Any more ideas?

Answer: I don't know, I plan to try liquid on the Beast too!

I was thinking a couple of wraps behind the C.C. or mid tail pipe to the injectors. Eric has better Ideas and other injectors I think...I would like to do the transition from Propane to liquid using the same injectors. I don't know if the Roscojector will deal with it.,

I haven't got that far yet....I think wraps around the C.C. would be too hot

If you try to use the same injectors, same fuel lines, too the valve to change fuels there could be some conflict! Some type of manifold is in order. I was thinking on setting it up as a liquid system with a auxillary means to inject the propane for heat up! To fly it, All of the auxillary material needs to be off board..

hmm... perhaps you could make a single wrap (the FIRST wrap) around the CC, the nice, red hot engine would definitely vaporize, or at least warm up the fuel a good bit. After that you could try running some coils around the tailpipe.

Oh, and the weight I gave is the ENGINE only weight. Don't know if that changes anything one bit for you...

Also, if the engine runs a nice orange hot, and gasoline runs hotter (I think it does) would the engine possibly melt? it's made of 20gauge mild steel...

Mr Wallington:

On the photo you submitted, The second to the largest engine with the duck bill tail pipe. How did it perform?

Did it fan out the exhaust?

Did it seem to breath OK?

The flares are very important. The power is ultimately limited by how much fuel and air the engine can pull in through the intake, the flare makes it easier to suck a given volume of air into the engine while keeping the basic "timing" of the engine the same since the intake length is essentially the same.

Jims engine is extra heavy duty. The thinnest stainless on it is 20 gauge (.035) , the thickest is .050.

If the engine were made from .016 it would weigh about half a pound.

Right now I only have .035 and .016 I will check after christmas to see if the prices have gone down any and see about getting a sheet of something in between.

If you want something for flying I would suggest something along the lines of the advanced chinese, which would turn your glider into a speed demon. :)

Hi Folks, the BIGMAMA engine did her first run today. It starts very easy, just like the small version. Put on the spark, little bit air, propane and booom here it goes!

Video is not full throttle I think, my bottle went close to empty and didn´t get more pressure. So I have to get a new one and test again.

It blows a lot but is not that loud as i thought i would be, very deep resonant sound. But the heat which is radiated is enorm! The stool got fucked up today! :D

So, have fun with the vid and the pics!

Frequency anyone???
