Hi Mike,
Have you ever gotten around to play with these engines some more?

Re: Mike's Build Log
Sadly, no. I find PJet work is something I do when I can have joy in my heart, and '22 was rough. Lost my mom and brother, heavy sigh.
So the 3d printed motor sits there waiting for me to machine a new starting jet fitting.
Clockwork has become more soothing for the moment. I don't know why the two are different as to my state of mind.
I have laid in the stuff to make a pjet with ceramic matrix carbon fiber as the next thing, and still imagine the 3d going a bit larger.

Re: Mike's Build Log
Here's what I've been working on lately, non-resonant timekeepers.
And here's a paper I've written about it, some light bathroom reading!

Mike, that's a super interesting read, and already a very cool clock.
Re: Mike's Build Log
About time someone posted something here again! See what I did there?....I'll let myself out. Nice clock Mike!

Re: Mike's Build Log
Mike that's a lot of research and "time" you've put into the project. Interesting history and methodologies. The magnetic induction brought to mind a viscous fluid resistance effect.

Re: Mike's Build Log
Ha, Mark, spot on. The next one is a viscous shear type, and the deep dive has been how to compensate for viscosity change with temperature, and using liquids available three centuries ago, like ethanol. That approach has a chance of doability in the 1700's.

Sorry the site was down. It was being attacked and the forum needed upgrading. I know at least one person noticed!

Re: Mike's Build Log
Well..., perhaps that person was me, since I even sent two emails informing Mike that the forum was down.
As the administrator of a similar forum program (but on automotive engine repair, if interesting - https://ab-engine.com/phpbb/), I'm well acquainted with such attacks and their consequences. Sometimes it's very difficult to get the forum up and running again after such an attack. I even had a case when spammers corrupted user registration data, forcing many to re-register.
So, many thanks to Mike for fixing everything without any losses!

Re: Mike's Build Log
Lest we forget, the 2005 International Pulsejet meet, back in the days we were building and posting daily. I remember getting up in the middle of the night just to see what Bruno, Viv, Nick, Tufty or Graham across the pond had to say!

That was many moons ago! I remember my first pulsejet ran for over a minute with a coin-shaped piece of aluminum flashing for a reed on a 2 inch plumbing pipe combustion chamber necking down to a one-inch exhaust. Another smaller bent washer/retainer kept the flashing from over flexing before giving out. I started the jet by first priming it and then pulling a cord on my lawnmower for a spark. Talk about primitive. It was in 2003 I first made a post about it.
Later, I started cutting out reeds from shim stock.
