I talked with a professor at florida tech when I was down there touring the campus and we were discussing engines etc. when he showed me a tiny rocket etched from silicon that he had. The complete engine is made from a stack of diferent silicon pieces glued (bolted?) togeter I thought it was really cool but when I did a little research on it later I realized it was much better then just "cool"
example: 1/1500 thrust to weight ratio (holy crap!!!!!!)
check it out: http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/RT1998/5000 ... ider2.html
and if anyone knows more about it tell me because I'm very interested!
