As I've said before, we're missing the boat by not actively promoting a pulsejet powered pylon racing class.

I absolutely agree with Larry. We are missing a major boat.

The idea of the latest craze in air races is exactly the opposite of what the Ansari guy is doing (and I think he is pursuing a did concept). Air racing is exciting if brought down to the people. This is what teh Red Bulkl series are doing and it is an enormous hit. It is fun if you can sit on the grass, sip beer and be deafened by mighty machinery whizzing around as close to you as possible. If you can smell the burning oil.

We can bring the whole thing even closer to the people, as our machinery can be built locally by 50 times more people than any other kind of powered aircraft.

We should be exploring ways to build extremely cheap airframes that are airworthy enough to be raced. Stipulate a standard ballistic recovery chute if things go wrong and a standard, certified propane tank (perhaps leased from the licensing authority by the racers). Leave everything else up to the builders and racers.

Have the things fly around pylons in a desert or above a lake or a harbor.
