FD3-64 casing question

Post by Edblad » Tue Oct 20, 2009 6:43 pm

Hi all!

I recently received a copy of Schreckling's book where he describes how to build the FD3. I'm about to start with the casing. The text says to open up the hole to 79mm while the drawing says 82mm diameter.

Which is the correct measurement?

Thanks

I would think you are safe to go with the drawing. It is strange but I guess he must have decided to increase the diameter to help lower the exhaust temp when he was doing the drawings. It's a good book but have you found some his formulaes in the turbine and compressor calculations section to be written a little strangely? Maybe it's just me. :D

G'day Tim

Totally agree with you about his formulii . Kamp's book is a little easier to understand I feel, but even his reasoning is a little vague at times .

Where abouts are you here in Oz ??

Cheers
John

Hi John.

Where could I get copies of Kamp's book and any other books that might be useful? Is there an english translation of any of Kurt's references? I think the book on fans would be very interesting. I'm in Stawell, Victoria.

Cheers, Tim
