Stun Gun Starter

Post by craigclavin » Thu Feb 22, 2007 3:39 pm

further to my previous topic - heres how to create a really simple starter - this only applies to those who can get hold of a stun gun.

Its that simple, i have a el cheapo $15 model and it creates a lovely spark. And its great if anybody trys to steal your pulse jet! Crocadile clips enable it to be pulled of as soon as igniton occurs.

Stungun

I used to hold mine just close to the spark plug on the pulsejet and it would arc over to both contacts, I had a 500,000 volt model. Still, you can't run a stungun for very long, which kind of sucks if you are experimenting and want to leave the spark running whilst you dabble with starting. Any more than 10 seconds and you are pressing your luck with a stungun. They can't handle a duty cycle like a good ignition system can.
I always though it was neat how quickly my stungun made ozone, you could smell it right away.

I don't have it anymore, it broke and I took it apart. It was just one of those that had an angle at the top, trigger on the side like this.

I think stun guns are useless unless used for Propane Gas.A cheep sparkler works very good but soon runs out of sparks.Model T car coils and 6 Volt batteries are OK.I use a 50,000Volt electronic coil sparking at over 20,0000 Times a second to start a Kerosine & Gasoline mix.I recomend using a stock can type 12Volt car coil as they are more indistructable. The electronic gear to run the coil I got from a Auto Electrical mechanic. It is called a Magic Start. It has a coil in it to.I dont think they make them anymore though.
