Re: Best Air Temperature for Speed Records

Mark & All, D-J metering jets were made with standard US numbered drill bits starting with the smallest (#1 jet, .036 in. dia., #64 drill, and up to a #10 jet, .052 in. dia., #55 drill.) Because #56 and larger drill sizes are larger by more than .001 in. for each increment, there can be significant ...

Re: Best Air Temperature for Speed Records

Mark, I have no specifics but can make a few pertinent observations. Static thrust of pjs seem to increase as air temperatures decrease, mostly because the air is more dense. At the same time, more dense air causes an increase in drag, perhaps negating the rise in thrust. I do recall that, in 1948, ...

Re: scaled x2 Dynajet

gettylee, Make sure your starting air blows sufficient fuel into the combustion chamber. The spark must at the exposed end of the plug. Often, contamination on the insulator causes the spark to jump well inside the plug, preventing it from being exposed to the fuel mixture. Remove the fuel injector ...

Re: Brand new Dynajet

gettylee, I don't mean to rain on your parade but your Dyna-Jet is not new; someone polished the red anodizing off the head fins. This has absolutely no effect on its operation even the fins can be removed without harm, but I can't fathom why any one would remove the coloring. Also, your chosen spar...

Re: Im new, will this work, and what are the dimensions?

Metiz, I'm not sure what you have drawn but can make several suggestions. Whatever your goal, it will be difficult to significantly improve on the basic design of the Dyna-Jet or its clones (OS, BMS, JetBill, etc.) On gasoline, the D-J Red Head developed more than 4.25 lbs. static thrust but doublin...

Michael,
Thanks for the reply. I recognized Dale in your picture, though when I knew him, he was older. He was a talented and articulate spokesman for Stanzel.

neoclassmac1972 (Bob Bolton.) Hi, Bob.You mentioned attending the US Nationals to which I also often go. I live 65 miles from Muncie. If you are here for the Nats this year, make yourself known and maybe we can visit. I may even bring along my pj from the first ever Dyna-Fog Generator and try to fir...

Re: ShockWave Dyna-Jet in 3D CAD

mcg, Thanks for your post. Stanzel also mfd Monoline control units for stunt, 1/2A, A, and BC Speed. The Jet Speed unit was reversed from the C because its mounting differed. Many years ago, I drove to Fremont, OH, and was one of many who watched Dale Kirn fly a Stanzel Skyraider on a 150 ft. line! ...

Re: Reed Valves for 110 lbf Globe/Solar Pulsejet

Hi, Tony, No, I've not posted Globe/Solar stuff on this forum because I'm busy trying to complete my Dyna-Jet book and get it printed. It is requiring vastly more effort and rewriting than I expected but I'm making progress. It will include a one page drawing of the patent application for Aeromarine...

Re: Curtis Dyna Fog help?

Mr. Mcfillipi, I'm not sure if I responded to your request, earlier, but I'll do so, now. I apologize for my delay. Your DFG is one of the last that was produced by the Curtis Company, about 1965. It can't easily be restored because of its very poor condition and missing parts. All the earliest DFGs...

Re: Curtis' Dyna-Jets

Hi, Gang, I just talked to Webster Peterson at Curtis Dyna-Fog, Ltd. and he told me they have stopped all efforts concerning the Dyna-Jet. They still have a few D-J parts for sale but when they are gone, there will be no more, ever. Their fear seems to be one of liabilities concerning the engine's h...

Curtis' Dyna-Jets

Hi, Guys, I recently heard some bad news about the Dyna-Jet but haven't had it confirmed, as yet. It seems Curtis Dyna-Fog, Ltd. has stopped all production and correspondence concerning the D-J. It represented such a miniscule income for the company that they decided to abandon it. I don't know if t...

Re: Pulsejet docs and plans, come and get em while theyre hot

Hi, Guys, Andrew's story about the destruction of archival material reminds me of a corollary: It seems a federal edict was issued to reduce the mass of documents being stored. With that in mind, most documents were to be copied on microfiche or similar miniature media before the originals were to b...

Re: Engine High Speed Test Experement.

Rocketman,
I just reread your message about a p-j on a whirl stand.
What kind of p-j did you use? Did you get any times? How did you get fuel to the p-j? Did your run cause any warpage of the p-j? When are you going to post your video?
Thanks.
