Re: M500 build log
Start system? Lightweight gas bottle, found it deserted somewhere after a festival. Have two of them.
Mind the cannisters full of FREE vegetable oil next to it. Great fuel for my van. And for PJ's?- Tue Sep 03, 2013 7:56 pm

Re: M500 build log
Kerosin is not available to me anymore
But I'll make a nice mix of gasoline, diesel and vegetable oil. Actually the pumps will be a mixing device

Re: M500 build log
I worked with in the past with high pressure pumps. There were no rubber seals inside those pumps. Instead they have some kind of bakelite seal to seperate the water from the oil in the carter. I don't share the concerns. Instead, if we use diesel, I expect the pumps to survive longer than on water ...

Re: M500 build log
I found two single phase high pressure water cleaners, together they will do the job. One pumps 6l/min, the other 7,5l/m. Right now I'm (finally!) building them together :D . Metiz, did you already think about starting up methods? Somehow I don't just see you stick the little compressed air pistol i...

Re: M500 build log
Metiz, The motorized pump on my photo delivers 11l/min, that should be enough. At 10 bars the electrical power needed and taken will be much much lower. If needed I even have larger pumps if needed. Displacement doesn't change, so the flow stays the same at lower pressures. You wil need two bypasses...

Re: M500 build log
Metiz, The other pump is normally also electric driven, but also an IC- engine could be used (or even steam :D ). The pumps have metal or ceramic pistons, and plastic/metal valves. I don't see why they wouldn't work with fuel. 2 kW would be for a pump that's working at 150-200 bar with 10-12l/min. W...

Re: M500 build log
I just found two pumps, one with motor and one without. The one with motor is 11l/min, the other one 8l/min. You can easily decrease these numbers with a bypass valve. The motor is now set for 3-phase 380 volts. I need to now what capacitor I need to make it 1-phase 220 volts. Anybody? These pumps a...

So, so, so to busy to do fun stuff, even to think of fun stuff.... :( Tried to find some materials, found them, then no clue where I left them, found them again, etc.... What I have out of high pressure water cleaners: 2 or 3 ful pumps with lot's off brass nozzles (should cool themselves with the fu...

Re: Senior Project- Designing and building pulsejet
In the past (in Holland) it was possible to buy butane in bottles/tanks. The problems was that if those tanks stood outside in a harsh winter, the butane wouldn't evaporate anymore and could in bad installations even suck air in the tank. That led to a few explosions. After that it was forbidden to ...

Re: M500 build log
Well let's guess:
M500 = 500 pounds of thrust (hopefully ), TSFC = 2,5 >> 1250 pounds of fuel per hour? Oooops
That's about 10 liters a minute. Pumps can handle that, can your wallet??

Re: M500 build log
I found some pump and nozzles. Did you already compute or guess how much fuel it is going to need?
