Thanks Larry,

Now it seems I need to BUILD the thing, knock up a "Rosscojector" and give it a go ... :)

Eeek, Eric!

60-odd on a Lockwood powered mountain bike on a gravel track??

If I ever strap a pulse jet to a vehicle it'll be a radio controlled one - probably an aircraft.

Ah, Rossco,

That's the "pressure jetting" concept, isn't it? Using the fuel flow to entrain air into the inlet to aid induction? A sort of "fuel supply and starting air blast" all in one.

Oh, I'm sorry Mike. I just thought there might be some basic or simple principles here. I shall read, read, read.

I have been looking at different tail-pipe designs -

- and wanting to further my understanding. I wondered if anyone could tell me the basic "idea" behind them ... what they're trying to achieve. A - Parallel. This is very common - partly, I guess, because it comes "ready made" in the form of steel tube direct from the supplier! B - Parallel, then a c...

Oh ... And as WELL as a rosscojector I'll also need to find the ability to build it (metalwork has never actually been my strong point - which I have regretted for years) and somewhere to run it. Unfortunately I live in the most densely populated and most noise-sensitive part of the South East of En...

A "Rosscojector"?

(Googles "Rosscojectors-R-us" ... fails)

I presume this is a creation of yours, Rossco?

Modelling engines in UFLOW1D

At the moment I'm having LOADS of fun modelling my "Squirrel" valveless pulse-jet in UFLOW1D - but ultimately the Squirrel is just a single tube, which gets fatter for a short period about 1/4 of the way along. in which I put a small explosion. So how does one model engines that AREN'T simple tubes,...

(This is in response to Larry’s earlier observations) Hi Larry, I've had a go at "tweaking" the Squirrel in UFLOW1D to try and (a) get the velocity node at 25% of the total engine length from the front and (b) try to ALSO get it in the middle of the combustion chamber at the same time - hope I und...

Thanks guys - By dint of experimentation I came to the same conclusion as Larry suggested just before I read his reply ... :) I have also been playing with UFLOW1D and velocity nodes on a "long nose" (Mk2) Squirrel - but for some reason everything "hangs" when I try and post the results. I'll have a...

I'll have a go with a longer inlet and look for that nodal point ... :)

"Output Points" in UFLOW1D

Does anyone else find that once you've defined output points in UFLOW1D you can't change them? They keep "going back" to what they were?

Or is it just be being dim in some way ...

Damn - I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached. All dimensions in cm ... except right at the bottom (underneath the linear scale) where they're in meters to match the scale in the UFLOW1D graphs!

Oh ... Silly me (D'oh!!)

Suddenly realized this little lot was next to useless without also posting the dimensions of the "Squirrel"

Here is a very rough-and-ready diagram (drawn by my own, fair hand ... ;) )
