One question on that running, should I do it inside (@ 70 °F) or outside (-6 °C today)? Give me a quick answer. We will be ready to run in about 1 hour. Inside at 70 F definitely. If Gluey did it in Souther California, then you would do best to try and duplicate that environment, in case your dif...

Okey ... I remeber 2 years ago, we ran this engine using a lift truck propane cylinder and the engine emptied it in 5 minutes. Actually, we did 3 run and the time was 5.00, 5.04 and 5.07 minutes. A lift truck cylinder contain 33 liters of liquid propane. So, using the time above I have caculated th...

Okey....Someone will have to help me learn how to make those nice rectangular when you quote someone previous paragraph or posting. When writing your post, there are bottons for bold, italic, underline, quote, etc. Use the quote botton once to open, and again to close. This will make the nice box. ...

OK. I did a little sanity check and the restrictors will not act as sonic valves as long as the propane is truly still liquid in them. The velocity through them in liquid state is only 100-200 ft/sec. But if ANYTHING in your plumbing causes the propane to vaporize before the restrictors, then your t...

What I am asking is : can we use the CFC of .78 Lbs/lb/hr (14.55 Liters or 3.84 gal.) at a pressure of 165 psig. wich is supose to be the CFC consumption of the 130R engine and rerun the simulation. OHHHHHH Criky!!!! This question got me wondering why you were so on about the flow rate this SFC wou...

I guess I was wrong assuming that... Therefore, what I need is to add another inlet condition parameter, wich would the flow (CfC of .78 Lbs/Lb/Hr = 14.55 Liter/Lb/Hr or 3.84 Gal./Lb/Hr), wich represent the quatity of fuel this engine swallows per pounds of thrust per hour. Luc, I would not do that...

Luc wrote: Just tell me the gasious flow I should input or if I can take the .78 Lbs/Lb/Hr and I will rerun the simulation. You lost me there. Was this a reply to my post about the supersonic CFD simulation discrepancies? If so, I don't understand where the .78lbs/lb/Hr came from. This looks like th...

Supersonic Nozzle CFD Analysis

Well guys, We've invented perpetual motion! My initial analysis of the supersonic nozzle's CFD simulation is that the results are highly suspect. At first, many of the results just didn't seem right. These included: 1. Mass flow from the fuel nozzle is too low. The value of .039 lbm/sec seems to be ...

Luc, Does your CFD allow symmetry plane type boundary conditions. If so you can eliminate the transverse inflow to the fuel jet to make your domain axisymetric, and then model only a 'pie slice' of the flow domain. i.e. instead of rotating the axisymmetric flow field a full 360 degrees about the sym...

Luc, I have attached the kind of flow field I am imagining. I see you are already modeling 1st and 2nd stages, so my flow field is a little behind, but you'll get the point. Colors as follows: Red: Nozzle inlet condition Green: Axis Blue: Free stream condion Yellow: 'Metal' surface boundaries Magent...

Luc wrote, Okey...the new supersonic nozzle is ready for simulation. But I have a question before that. Do you brainiacs prefer to have the gas plume in the first stage image, or you need surface data (i.e : What is going in and coming out). Because it is 2 different setup and 2 separate simulation....

Hellow all,

How come my little GIF file doesn't display in the forum posts? Is there a way to do that?

Well, I decided to give up on the eDonkey s*** for awhile. So I designed a supersonic nozzle for the G8-2-130. You should see the ACAD 14 file below. It is designed for .16 lbm/sec of propane at 225 psig and 1200 F. The resulting jet will be around 3000 fps...this jet will be very loud. It will gene...
