Re: Mike's Build Log

Lots of fun stuff back then.

Hell, I've had a browser tab open on this site for over 20 years.

Re: Workshop machinery

Some more machinery followed me home. A little Lorch lathe missing a fair amount of parts, because obviously I needed another project.

Wow, that's super low profile. Shame I can't afford to upgrade :)

Re: Workshop machinery

Tape scales - magnetic? I could live with some of that, mine are cheapo 5µm glass scales. The scale isn't really the issue, I can live with 0.01 repeatability (well within the bounds of it being measured in chicrons) but the scales themselves aren't exactly "low profile"

Re: Workshop machinery

OK, brace yourself. It's as ugly as sin, and has a number of flaws.

Mounting plate was hacked from a piece of old compressor I had lying about, it's welded to a piece of scrounged cast iron water conduit, 145mm diameter. Welded inside those are the hub parts of 2 Fiat Panda brake disks turned to ...

Re: Pulsejet workflow simulation online

To get a start on validation of the model, there's a certain amount of literature regarding specific designs, particularly the various SNECMA engines and the stuff out of JPL.

No, but not everyone is interested in turbojets, and a lot of people only really check in once or twice a month.

Re: HX-30 turbojet engine.

What really matters is thrust specific fuel consumption. But in any case, there's no one answer. A pulse jet we might build at home will probably do worse than a turbojet we might build at home.
