Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet

Great news, about the job I mean. Any time I interview an engineer, the first question is "what are you making at home?"

Re: hey hey happy new year

Hi Simon! I still burn some fuel and make some noise, mostly when I want to fire up a young engineer-to-be. You building anything fun?

Re: Mike's Build Log

Gawd, I have to make time for more fun! Happy Holidays, those still watching his thread. I ran my 5 pounder on Saturday. I had to quickly figure out the auto start fuel again, since at the shop we got rid of our air compressor and switched to a nitrogen tank for blow off, which doesn’t work so well ...

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets

That color and sound is addicting isn’t it? I’m all prepped to run one this Saturday.
Scaling from 50,000 feet: a good little motor will scale up, but scaling down is really finicky. That expansive tail makes it more so. If you start with a straight tail, this scale down will probably work.

Re: Possible to convert valveless to valved?

That said, both have similar acoustic geometries. I remember plotting out the acoustic length correction for the bell mouth of a valver, and it yielded the length you’d expect for a valveless intake tube. It would be a very interesting project, proving they are actually much more similar than one mi...

Very nice, Kevin! No hearing protection required?
Some time at home helped the project, I’m thinking.

Re: Valveless pulsejet-computational fluid dynamics

Hi Ganesh, There are 6 holes of .035" diameter at the transition between intake and CC, pointing at 45 degrees from the centerline, toward a point on the centerline a bit into the CC. pocket jet injector holes.PNG I do not have a solid fuel massflow number from test, but at one time predicted it at ...

Re: Plumbing Pulse jet stalling

The intake looks too short, and needs to be rounded inside as much as the wall thickness will allow.
