Luc, Wow - The cat is out of the bag! Not only did Eugene deceive us, but also Rory Eisele in his project at Iowa State University. Remember how they claimed to hit 1 lb/lb/hr. Now it makes sense why he did everything to avoid sending me the reprint. I think it was Dave who was able to get a copy of...

Luc,

That should certainly put the SFC issue to rest once and for all !!!!

I think we were all suspicious of the SFC claims, but most of us were too trusting to realize that the thrust claims were unreliable.

Hi Luc,

The tuning of your other engine is curious indeed, given you have the same dimensions. Did Dave leave the recording equipment with you? It would be interesting to see how different the FFT spectrum is between your 145lb engine and this one.

Later,

Hi Luc,

Thanks for getting back to me. Can you give some guidance on when you will release the fix for this engine? Last year I acquired the materials I needed to build a 130R, but don't want to get started on a project that would otherwise be doomed for failure.

Best regards,
Paul

Luc,

Congratulations to you and the crew!

I am curious to hear the fix, when you're ready to share.

Hi Luc, I wish I had more ideas for you, but I ran out a while ago. I have been keeping up with all of your discussions and have to say that I hope you keep your conversations on this forum, as you are helping me come to an understanding about an engine that has intrigued me for decades. Thanks for ...

[But one thing did catch my attention in that video. Coming out from the mouth of Eugene, he clearly says, and I quote "The 2nd stage is 1/2 of a wavelenght and the 3rd stage (Not the 3rd stage and combustion chamber combination) is 1/4 wavelenght of the 2nd stage". In the new manual (The marketing ...

Hi Guys, The little 5lb jet I run does not have holes in the 3rd stage, yet maintains sonic lock. My guess is that the combustion chamber volume is a Helmholtz resonator and the 3rd and 2nd stages are classic open-end linear resonators. I've modeled this approach and you get a stable node near the f...

Viv -

No other bombshells that I am aware of. From my small engine, I have found these engines to be quit sensitive.

Hi Luc, One more thing - Which plans did you create your intake from -Gluhareff's original or Riley's? Riley's plans specify that 1st stage is 1.5 inches in dia while Gene's blueprint measures 1.625. Although a 15% reduction in area may seem trivial to some, the placement of 1st stage can make this ...

Hi Luc, Certainly no grudges. I think it is going to be nearly impossible for anyone to get at the exact length for your stage 2 by calculation. A couple of possible reasons: 1. the location on the curved wall in the combustion chamber where you would say the wave hits a "closed node" is somewhere b...

Hi Luc,

I stand corrected and don't want to get in the way of progress. I certainly was not trying to insult your quality or engineering.

Cheers,

Hi Luc,

Since the engine in the 3 photos that you posted did not have complete flares, I thought it was worth asking...

If it's not a radial resonance between 2nd and 3rd stage, I'm out of ideas!

Hi Luc, I don't think trying to get the system to resonate properly when there is no combustion will be too successful. The distance for the 1/4 wave is set for high temperature, while the distance for the 1/2 wave in 2nd stage is for cold flow. Were you able to verify that the bottom of the 2nd sta...

Hi Zoltan,

It's good to hear from you again. Have you had any luck finding a good place to test your engines? I now have the small version (5lb thrust) to play with and have noticed the same rapid transition that you describe related to the heating of the coils.

Cheers,
Paul
