Re: My first pulse jet!!!

Use 1mm stainless steel for engines that last a good while. You can also still weld 1mm steel pretty well. A slip roll is useful but by no means necessary! You can get really good results with a piece of round and later square pipe clamped in a good vice and a hammer. That's how I built most of my e...

Re: Lockwood Hiller Pulsejet *almost* running

Hi Comics, welcome to the forum! Nice build you have there. I don't think the straight pipe will be a problem. Looking at your video, I have one piece of advice, and this is the first time I've said this to anyone on this forum: I think you're using too much gas! Right at the beginning of your video...

I had to quickly figure out the auto start fuel again, since at the shop we got rid of our air compressor and switched to a nitrogen tank for blow off, which doesn’t work so well for starting a pulsejet!
Not with that attitude :P

Good to see you back to fin-nicking with jets again!

Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet

I tried to build one of these things before. I had a hot (non)start and burned up the turbine. The only advice I can give is: don't try starting too long or you risk overheating. Also, as a general rule: bigger turbo chargers are better suited than the little ones. On a side note: welds are really i...

Re: Possible to convert valveless to valved?

Valved and valveless engines have different geometries, so you can't just convert one into the other

Good stuff. Try adding some NOx to the fuel mixture for a nice boost. If you want to build an augmenter, check here

That's the stuff! Congratulations. Did you feel your bones rattle? :P Looking at your video, I think you can run it a lot harder still.

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets

Try freehanding the injector to find the sweet spot. If you still can't get it to start, see if you can borrow a compressor somewhere.

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets

Sorry...still not running :? You need more gas. Here's a video of an engine built with Pyrojoe's specs from a couple of years back. It's a bit bigger but the same type. I start it using only a Rosscojector. I've uploaded the whole thing, including all the failed attempts. Maybe you can get some poin...

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets

If you're using a rosscojector, the injector needs to be positioned farther out instead of in. Pretty close to the flare actually. If the flame blows out, you have your injector positioned incorrectly. To find the sweet-spot, hold the injector in your hand and light it. Hold it in the intake in a po...

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets

That's better. It's not running though. You need a lot more gas, like, x3. I don't know if you are wearing any hearing protection but if you're not: for the love of tinnitus, do. When it does lock in, it's going to be the loudest thing you've ever heard.

Is there no sound or is it a problem on my end?
