Here's a smaller version I was fiddling with, a little fussy sustaining but just started toying with it so maybe I can get it to do better later on.

Got it to run for about three minutes but only started the camera after deciding it was going to sustain. Still I have to wonder why it decided to stop after 3 minutes .

These are 6 mm borosilicate test tubes oscillating in an 8 x 6 mm quartz tube, a vertical test. Funny by adjusting the freedom of the stroke with the silicone rubber band you can hold the engine in yor hand and it's impervious to motion and yet most times it likes a solid table surface to resonate on, to keep the rhythm. Like here on this flimsy table, the flexing dampens feedback. Notice how smooth it runs once it settles down.
