Hi,just curious if there is any proven & relatively simple plans for a 100 to200 pound thrust PJ engine, ide like to build a pulse jet sled, fire&ice! Great promo for my heating&cooling co. :) any suggestions will be much appreciated! Thx much, Brian :D

Also/ either, multiple engines with easy starting would be great! Dose thermo jet start instantly?

With the right kind of injector, yes. try this, build one with an expanded tail viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5914 and use the smallest allowable intake size by the caliber method. One intake is starts easier, has more power but consumes more fuel, multiple intakes have slightly less thrust but lower fuel consumption

Hello,I was wondering if the pressure jet,is a good engine&or will it produce the 130lbs ? &is it a feasible engine to build? If so?is there a good plan for one? Thx much Brian

There aren't a lot of pressurejet plans available, most have only a fraction of the thrust you want. If you can design an engine big enough it will start on its own

Hello&thx,is there a good choice for easy starting & 100+ thrust, other than a Lockwood?I did top out on pedal valves with my 20lb 100mm pj

Hello,I sure do appreciate every bodys suggestions! This has been a dream come true! For me, thx everyone!!!! :) OK,so how about a good valve grid, one that can be made fairly easy, Im aware nothing is easy! Lol but a Argus scaled down sure would work for my jet sled project. Thx again!!!

As far as I know, only lockwood or similar thrust (55pounds) are readily available. You should be able to whip up your own design without much trouble by using Pyrojoe's recipe

Hello, ironically I use pyrojoes recipe for my 117mm valved, just shortened the tail flare,I started gathering valve cage parts, the external valve grid, got me all excited! I'm thinking around 1/3 scale Argus,10"dia. & two rows of reed valves,&I'm thinking of powering a furnace oil pump, with a chainsaw, also get my spark,&throttle the pump with chainsaw rpms,& using standard furnace nozzle@150psi with diesel/ kero mix, just a idea, :) & to think this all started with my little wonderful! Fwe, & what a journey!!! :)

Hello, dose anyone know if there is a 60lb valved engine plan, anywhere, free or buy? I'd like two build a ice/snow sled, with two 60 or 75 lb thrust valved engines on it.thx much!!!! :)

I found very nice100lb , 20lb , & 7lb valved pulse jet plans,on eBay,there from scientific supply,I bought them & I'd recommend them,they are very innovated!!! I'm very pleased with them&the price" :)

Gettylee,
A valveless pj is much simpler, longer lasting, and more reliable than any valved design but all of them burn twice or more fuel than valved, for similar thrust. They are also slightly less noisey and easier to start.
I have a Thermo-Jet J3-200 of about 3 lbs. thrust and it burns twice as much liquid propane (in a pressurized tank,) as my 4.5 lb. Dyna-Jet's consumption of gasoline (unpresurized.) Keep that in mind when working with any valveless pj.

Gettylee,
Based on your pictured pj, I'm guessing that its exhaust flare is much larger than necessary for your application. In fact, it is possible your static thrust could be 25%-50% greater than as shown, if the flare were reduced to about 1-2 in. larger than the tailpipe. I say this because of tests Aeromarine Co. conducted on their 8 in., 210 lb. thrust pj and a Dyna-Jet with a flare that was 2.5 in. It was run with the flare incrementally reduced to zero. At 2.5 in., thrust was about 3 lb., at zero it was about the same, and at 1.25, it was about 4.5. Keep in mind the reeds burn out very quickly if there are no provisions for cooling them. Aeromarine accomplished this on their 8 in. design by injecting 1/2 the fuel into the inlet venturi (D-J style,)and the rest into the comb. chamber (Argus style). All this is in my D-J book.Good luck.
Jerry

Awsom, thx for the info, because my flair is a prototype experiment, now is a good time for suggestions,I plan on making a ice sled with this PJ, & push me, so the flair is a must& she's@11to1 tailpipe, so it should be OK to shorten my flair, I suppose I can fire it up and look for the heat line on the flare, that may determine where I may want to cut it off. Thx for the info! :)
