Put succinctly, water injection = extra massflow = extra thrust.

I had heard of water injection for turbine engines, but had not idea it has been experimented with on pulse jet engines. I did read something about running a mixture water and alcohol in one of Maddox valved pulse jet engines. But with little or no success. I read the research mark did. Your right if anyone would know Eric Beck, would.

White pine County Rec. Ely Nevada Cave lake Bathtub Races Summer of 2011 25th of June.
My entry was a twin Lockwood Pulse Jet Engine Liquid Propane Powered. The gasoline injection turned out to be harder to vaporize than I anticipated.
However the larger pontoons gave me more flotation. i.e. Less water surface tension.

Hi Mike,
Yeah! there were more paddle boats this year. The motorized group was smaller, only 5 and 1 sunk before the race started. 19 total entry's this year. 6 entry's from out of
town some from Utah and about 30 Californian's, even a couple from Florida with an estimated crowd at 3000. But I was the only Jet Engine Powered Bathtub. My Bathtub Boat had Better Buoyancy, not much faster though.

Just a bit of my history.
My career was spent working with my hands. Fixing cars in High School, then working on some heavy equipment and finally changing my career to Aviation Hydraulics’ on Chinook Helicopters while in the (ARMY).
I’m retired from the Postal Service. And for the last 3 years, as my hobbies have changed from bird houses to Pulse Jet Engines, I enjoy a new challenge.
It only made sense to use this simple forum of Jet Propulsion to move something.
This is the second annual Ely Nevada, Cave Lake Bathtub Races my second Lockwood Pulse Jet Engine-Bathtub. This year’s entry has bigger pontoons and really that’s the big difference.

I guess it's a little early but here is a pair of 110 lb Valued Argus PJ Engines. The crowd is going to love
These noise makers! I've haven't had a chance to fire them up. Been real under the weather. Just wanted to add these pitchers while I was thinking about.
This turned out to be a very expensive project.

This guy did the welding for me. I could meg weld ok but his work is first class.
