pulsejet go kart
before saying about my go kart,i would like to inform you that i have made a successful chinese type pulsejet engine..initially i did the design wrong then i corrected it using pyrojoes receipe..And also thanks for the members who helped me..here is the pic and video..this engine was really noisy irritated me,forgot to wear an ear protection..

now let me say you about my jet kart,i have designed an pulsejet engine take a look at it..IF you find any mistakes please reply me i will correct it..here is the pic which i have drawn..iam making this kart because i was not able to succeed in placing the pulsejet to a bicycle, because it was hard to fix a 15kg gas cyl to bicycle..

Re: pulsejet go kart
k now here no replies so what should i understand either there is no mistake in the design or the total design is wrong..
Re: pulsejet go kart
I don't think you'll get your cart moving (at any decent speed at least) with so little thrust.

Re: pulsejet go kart
do you say that 14cm dia is not enough to produce good thrust..metiz wrote:I don't think you'll get your cart moving (at any decent speed at least) with so little thrust.
Re: pulsejet go kart
As a general rule, the smallest tail pipe diameter of the PJ should be equal or slightly larger than the middle bicep of the rider. This is typical for lower speeds.
For higher speeds the tailpipe diameter should be near the diameter of the riders middle thigh.
Of course this is for vehicles with low rolling resistance.

Re: pulsejet go kart
k then 16cm should be suitable i think so for kart, what do you say..
or else should i make make two 25 pounds engine and fix it to kart..

Re: pulsejet go kart
Bicycle tires larger than 450mm have much less rolling resistance than the short, wide cart tires.
Its a balance between how easily your cart rolls versus how much thrust you can make. One is just as important as the other.
Road surface is also a factor, it should be flat smooth and hard.

Re: pulsejet go kart
the road surface is concrete road and iam fixing a thermojet engine with cc dia of 16cm producing 45 pounds of thrust..is this suitable or not..otherwise do i have to fix an engine that produces 55 pounds of thrust to suit the kart..
Re: pulsejet go kart
16cm is about 37 pounds using 1.2 pounds per square inch of CC area. Should get you moving.
A well developed tail expansion would be required.
Adhere as close to the .88 intake ratio as possible.
Augmentors are a good idea.
Fueling as often a challenge when the jet is large.

Re: pulsejet go kart
k then according to the receipe i have made the drawings..here i have planned to use four intakes each at 90 degrees to each other..i have uploaded the pic..
Re: pulsejet go kart
Looks close to the recipe, the intake diameters are slightly small, which is reasonable for a thermo-chinese type layout.
Total engine length is something to consider when reviewing the design of the cart.
Overall it looks good.

Re: pulsejet go kart
now here is the redesigned intake pipe..and i have also drawn the new kart..is that correct dia for intake pipes..
Re: pulsejet go kart
The intake diameter is good.
There will be a slight torque on the kart with the jet offset from the center line, also the center of gravity will be offset on the drivers side. Probably won't be much of a problem at low speeds though.

Re: pulsejet go kart
iam going to make this engine using mild steel sheet of 1mm thickness, and will this engine produce a thrust of 40 pounds above or below..PyroJoe wrote:The intake diameter is good.

specifications:
sheet metal: mild steel
thickness: 1mm
gas: LPG 15kg(is that enough)..
Re: pulsejet go kart
It will be alot of work to reach 30 pounds, then with some fueling adjustments and augmentor, it should be possible to push past 35. Don't be concerned with individual augmentors, should be able to wrap the mid section of the engine with a large one (blue).
Keep the LPG tank warm in the sun, a hard run will empty a tank in just a few minutes.
