That's a really "sweet" ride, Viv. Thanks.

I thought you might appreciate that, these bikes have the right bone structure, just needs the right dress to bring out the inner beautyWebPilot wrote: That's a really "sweet" ride, Viv. Thanks.

Re: my new (ol' but low cost) ride
I went to a Car Cruise about 5:00pm with my bike. I took a sweatshirt along since the high today was only in the low 70's. It was too hot for it in the sun while walking around. By 7:30pm, however, I needed it and more if I was going to stay out so I stopped home to get a thin leather jacket.
Coming home from uptown at about 10:30pm, I was not comfortable--my knees were even getting cold. Not being a sis--I'll be out again, I'll just have to dress accordingly.

Cold again tonight--I'm stitching a new zipper in my lighter-weight leather.

Didn't get around to it--went to an all day machinery auction instead.

One needed only a T-shirt (and pants and boots) last night to ride around after midnight. It apparently rained some at home but not where I was--more cell action.
Last night's weather: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 10pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. West wind between 6 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

As I pulled into town on my way home, a cop came up behind me and did a whoop, whoop. I pulled off to the side of the road as he roared past me.

I attended car cruises over the last several weeks and realized it's been 1 year since I put the XS650 on the road.

Re: my new (ol' but low cost) ride
So, last weekend I took a friend's 1100cc Virago on a 1200km, 4 country repatriation trip after he busted his arm over here.
Sweet Jebus, what a turd of a bike. Awful at low speed (too heavy, crappy geometry), awful at high speed (too much wind blast and not enough punch), and awful in the twisties (geometry, weight, suspension). About all it's good for is getting pulled over in town because of the continuous low speed backfiring if you don't give it a little trickle of gas at all times.
At the moment I'm riding my brother-in-law's MT-01 (on loan due to dead BX and requirement of getting to work). A 1700cc twin in a sportsbike-style frame. Too much chrome and still too heavy, but ridiculously fun. If I owned it I'd probably wear out my licence before the rear tyre. Anyone who likes bikes should probably test drive one, but don't bring your credit card, as they are "kinda pricey".
