There is actually pretty much you can improve:

- Better presentation page.
- Better menu structure.
- Nice looking logo.
- Add more forum smileys.
- Better forum template.
- Activate the freaking forum avatars!!!
- Maybe a CMS like Joomla, you can combine user database and visually joomla with phpbb and a wiki.
