Sounds like it's time to be especially nice to your significant other?

Perhaps Santa Claus will bring you a new machine for Christmas - or at least a power supply if you can't cannibalize something from what your neighbors throw away or find something cheap at a flea market. Too bad you don't live closer to me - I've got lots of junk.

Thw wife May be inclined to help. But I have a few carcasses buried about the place to try first.

It is a bad time of year to owe favors...

I really need an infusion of cash, stuff is just getting old, Just disposed of 4 printers, or rather prepared them for such.

Cheers.

Was stripping a full tower case the other day, the Matrox Stallion860 ( may have the number wrong... ) Mother board is past it, Twin 333mhz Pentium II's is just not useful any more....

Any way the power supply may work in the other machine.

Still pretty broke.

Got some santa cash so I have a new video device for recording...

No lotto win yet, I keep trying...

It's good to hear you got a new toy for Christmas. I used a 400 MHz PII machine (and probably still could) for my audio recording and am learning to use my AMD 4050e for video.

This is just a heads up and you might want to get something up and running soon. I have two programs (BASIC) in mind and you're gonna miss some fun otherwise.

One of the progs is for play and the other is directly applicable to pjs. You won't need a brute of a machine for what I have in mind.

I did a lot of programming on that 400 MHz PII machine in BASIC, FORTRAN, and C . I also ran a variety of Linux programs, an AutoCAD clone, and a finite element code. It would be plenty.

Less is best.

BTW Do you recognize her?

Should have mentioned that it was no longer working...

Well it goes something like this;

CPU #2 lost it's cooling fan, a fault that caused a shutdown. So reluctantly I pulled #2 and limped along on just #1. Then something sad happened to HDD #2 a rather young 40gb Seagate. Recovered most of that. And was still looking for a fan, seemed like no one had one just then for that cartridge.... ( The MMX PII reminded of an atari game cartridge... ) So I put in a 40gb Hitachi drive and carried on. Then one day it just stopped. I could kinda get a boot and then it would freeze. The only successful run was with only a floppy drive hooked up, It will boot MS-DOS 3.3 from floppy. My surmise is that a critical buss component on the MB is no longer. Any thing hooked to the raid ( either actually ) controller and DEAD. The onboard IDEs Like wise. SCSI 1 or 2 ( set non Raid ) or 3 ( set non Raid ) like wise. PCI slot mounted HDD controller, be it IDE, DMA300, SCSI etc. forget it. I may have tried a few other things but it was 2/3 years ago.

Kinda Gave up after that...

I am only messing with it now because my replacement for it The Linux box I had just loaded Gambas on went down in the power supply, This was one of the afore mentioned "carcasses" that I have laying around, oh and look a power supply....

I am also prepping it's old case for a new board. Something with horse power, I hope, just have to turn in 300,000 or so cans for recycling...

I may get some time this monday to try a restart of Othello ( The linux box mentioned above ) But Opus ( the old Linux box is dead ).

Thanks for asking, I really have no Idea what I may need right now.

Unless you can send some time. Always short on that.

Cheers.

The picture reminds me of my high school sweetheart/girl friend, except for the fire arms. I suspect it is not her. :D

Here is a BASIC program I cobbled together for estimating top speed, time & distance. No guarantees on the accuracy, so far it appears to give some reasonable numbers.

Simon may rightfully pick up the code and swat me over the head with it. ha :D
Probably some glitches in it somewhere, but haven't found anything that is similar to compare.
Gives a second by second output

An example run for a streamlined vehicle:
.12 for a reasonably slippery Cd.
4.5869 square feet for a frontal area
rolling resistance of 29 pounds
vehicle weight of 1500 pounds
Jet produces 100 pounds thrust

An example run for a model aircraft:
.12 for Cd.
.25 square feet for a frontal area
rolling resistance of 1 pounds (in this case substituting 1 pound of lift induced drag, just a wild guess)
vehicle weight of 3.4 pounds
Jet produces 3.8 pounds thrust
output of program:

Drag Coefficient Cd 0-1 .12
Frontal Area of vehicle in sq. feet .25
Rolling Resistance pounds 1
Total Weight in pounds 3.4
Thrust of engine in pounds 3.8
acceleration=35.9591765ft/sec^2

 Well, where are the graphs/plots?

I think you made an error in programming early on. Can you draw a flow chart? I think you'll see what I mean right away.

I hope you're writing the data to a data file and not sending it to the screen, eh?

Hmmmmmm.

And I thought that the velocity of the acting thrust came in at some point.

Or have I ( yet again ) missed something.

I should sleep some time this week.....
In the process of moving, from the glorified phone booth we had to the house we have.

No real time to work on jets, more space, no time.

Life still complicated.
