Wow, I now have a 2nd favorite fantasy monster -- the gigantesque gecko-c02-cylinder-hamster chimaera.

This one is still my favorite, though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dada_monster Somehow, the notion of "Ultraman", a show so seemingly devoid of anything even hinting at intellectualism, pointedly tapping into an artistic movement like Dada in order to add a 2nd layer of meaning, seemed so utterly improbable at the time. When viewed in light of modern Japanese pop art stuff (Manga, Anime etc.), it makes a little more sense -- and might be considered almost inevitable.
