eBay musings

I was thinking we or other obsessed/methaphilic people could do a series or takeoff of the will it blend videos.

Only in our case it, one might call it "Will it Jam Jar?" I recall some of my weirder/artistic vessels - a paper mache ostrich egg which exploded and stung my fingers, a yellow plastic lemon which worked, a few Klein bottles that have as of yet haven't, a smudge pot that did, some chrome-plated syringes that do, collapsible stainless steel cups, and a host of other objects calling out for the first time, having an imagined affinity for methanol. Maybe the dog's eyes could light up in this case.

Or maybe make a model of a bombardier beetle that runs on methanol and air, ignition started in a chamber with platinum catalysts. There's just no end to the creatures that could spring to life.

Maybe you could make something exotic or artistic out of these whoppers.

I don't know what you would use it for, but it's a nice hunk of quartz.

Instead of quartz -(SiO2), how about some Al2O3?

"Transparent alumina is a transparent form of aluminium oxide, Al2O3. In bulk, solid form, alumina is a colourless, transparent solid. Ruby and sapphire are two forms, containing different impurities, which occur naturally."

Might be fun to do a slight variation on this theme for something in Pulsejet Land or nearby Isle of Jam Jars. Grim's G360 kind of comes to mind here as well. Both shapes kind of "invade" their own space in a way.
Imagine putting a few reed valves around the perimeter of an opening on a large Klein bottle design - that funnel part where you can pour liquids inside. Air would be rushing in the valves near where the exhaust would be rushing out. Of course we all know the exhaust would also have air rushing in part of the phase. I wonder how that would work? In looking at my Klein bottle on my desk, I see one advantage in that the intake reeds around the perimeter of the exhaust might provide some "regenerative" cooling to the internal segment. (ha) On the other hand, I wouldn't want the intake reeds to be so close as to ingest a high percentage of hot exhaust. It's entertaining to think about toying with the pressure at that junction, how the two regions or zones, inflow and exhaust/inflow, would interplay at differnt time intervals. Maybe they could amplify each other or perhaps find/derive a way to make them do so.
Or I suppose you could contrive some valveless snorkelets if you wanted to be really warped/artistic. What an adventure to make this shape work. It's not like it's impossible I don't think. As said in one of my articles on pulsejets, "most any shape will run", although I doubt the author had this form in mind. ha
