The world is my CNC machine!
Hi guys, finally got my cnc machine all up and running!
A big Thanks to Rossco for all his help, I really mean that, he was invaluable at helping me get it going, and even lifting it into my car
And so here it is... WOOT!
The first cut test peice of a plane's fuselage,
I added :
cutouts for a removable canopy, that has a camfer to lock into securely.
Wing and canard sections.
A whole lotta coffee, smokes and TLC
I am just freaking stoked, IA goes CNC!!!

Re: The world is my CNC machine!
Thanks dudes!
Viv it is as good as i'd imagined, that is for sure. There are always little things when your learning, like I would have liked to cut right through the stock, but those things come with time and practice. For now, i'll do the wings and canards for this baby, also practice my vacuum bagging on it, then we'll see what we will see eh?
Cheers guys,
James.

Re: The world is my CNC machine!
Very nice! That's just what you needed, and most of us want.
I hope to get some help from you guys with Mach3 sometime soon. We're rolling out a super stiff belt drive and will be showing it in a gantry configuration, having it make something as a giveaway at the show. Any ideas there are welcome!

Re: The world is my CNC machine!
This is what i intend the plane to look like,
Its no more then a really pretty showpiece at this stage, intended to look cool, and learn my machine, nothing more. (Yet)
I call is The IA - Duskbat
Why, cause I like its gray and black paint job??? I'm still thinking of names for it...
Anyway, I like the forward swept V-tail, the more nuts this thing can get the better
anyway here it is.

NICE!!
Good one James. Looks like you have mastered the mysteries of g code. Are you using Mach 3?

Re: The world is my CNC machine!
Yo mark,
yes I am using mach 3, its really good for what it does IMO, only thing is I haven't as yet sussed the "Go home" button on the new version, have to set it as a variable point in the MDI screen, ha probably not optimal however
Still, one of the best/most gratifying 160 bucks I ever spent.
Glad you all like it, its being vacuum bagged in fiberglass as we speak, but the little servo / airflow extrusions are looking like they might come out a bit funny, time will tell

Re: The world is my CNC machine!
That is so sweet! I have the machine that could do it, but would currently cost me an arm and leg to program it for something. Makes me have a burning need to have one in my garage and learn to do what you've done!
