new application!!

Post by _Rahul_ » Sun May 13, 2007 9:13 pm

anyone thought about this?

Its 2:34 am and these little monsters called "mosquitoes" are killin' me!
I saw on Discovery Channel that some guys are developing/ have developed a device that repel mosquitoes by emitting sound waves! Possible with a PJ?
NO .. I'am SERIOUS!!

I think it was working at some very high frequency .. not sure .. might be above the audible range .. but as they told on tv .. it was because of the fact that humans would not love to get distracted/ disturbed with a high frequency sound! Any possibilities ? Darn Mosquitoes!!

mosquitoes

Post by Jim Berquist » Sun May 13, 2007 10:13 pm

Rahul:

I've seen various versions of them. Most use 22khz or 44khz. They came that the female mosquito is territorial and this simulates the wing
beet of the same. I will send you a schematic of same. It's simple some discrete components and 555 timer chip, pizzo element........

I used them before in Florida with some success. Here in New Mexico the problem is null.....Around the Rio Grand river area they have problems with the West Nile Virus and Encephalitis.

how about this, a valveless pulse jet used in place of tornado sirense it would probably be alot louder and plus a few months ago, i think the number was around 6 or 7 tornados that hit were im at in clovis nm, and those sirens you coulndnt even here with all the hale hitting your car with you in it and the windows rolled up right next to were the the tornado struck and stuck because you ran out of gas at the most stupidest and dangerous freekin time and place, yea that was me" every thing was fine after words just my por poor car got hit by lots of really huge and fast falling hale.

ive mentioned in here before but havent yet tryed it, but someone i asked in here told me i was correct about how fast a 70lber pulse jet would excellerate you on a vehicle, when i asked if you put a scale that you weight your self on and put it on your friends back and have him on a bike or something and push on that scale with 70lbs of pressure without letting off less than 70lbs of pressure until he is doing like 200 mph then thats about how fast he would excellerate if you can acctually run that fast and push him for that long, and this is without the drag factor, dang if you think about that, once your moving about 40 mph and still have 70-80lbs of thrust pushing you , you would think it would be accelerating you fast as hell as you are not being acceleratet from a stand still but instead allready moving with all that extra push just still pushing you untill the drag starts to balances your speed out right? and a pulse jet will still be pushing around the same thrust if you are moving about 50mph right? as someone in here said a jet engine doesnt loose its thrust as it moves through the air as fast as like a propeller engine would when it is moving through air right? hmm i need to try this scale pushing thing, because i am so currious on how fast my engine will be accelerating when i put it on something, but i cant freakin find any body with a gocart out here without buying a new one and destroying it to work for my jet engine.

Mosquito

Post by Irvine.J » Mon May 14, 2007 12:39 am

There are only 2 options here...
A giant teslacoil.
or
de Havilland Mosquito
Other fighter-bomber variants were the FB Mk XVIII (sometimes known as the Tsetse) of which 27 were made by converting Mk VIs. These were fitted with a Molins 57 mm cannon, a 6 pounder anti-tank gun modified with an auto-loader to allow both semi- or fully-automatic fire, in the nose.

6lb nose gun??? Now either of those should deter those little bloodsuckers.

Click this picture for Specs...

Or this one...

Either one could be built half scale as an R/C boat... no plastics unless you want to
sheath the hull.

A slightly smaller one...

But I already have a "sneakbox" type duck hunting boat, and it will do fine
if I ever build an engine of decent size (35 lb thrust or higher).

Use it to heat sheet metal to form cones for the next engine.

Use it to clear brush & burn piles (weeds, blackberry bushes, ...)

Terrify the neighbor's barking dog at 3:00 AM

Get your kid an A in science class
(A very cool Show & Tell item too)

Scare away tailgaters.

Carry it around for attention.

Put it on a go-kart and do halftime shows at highschool football games.

Drown out your mother inlaw's nagging.

Frighten nosy neighbors who think you might be insane.

Make the neighbor with the unmuffled Harley envious.

Talk about it in a forum with other fanatic nerds.

Pulsejet Hovercraft

Post by Dave_G » Thu May 31, 2007 5:14 pm

How about a Pulsejet Hovercraft?

I assume this is an SRL project...

Actually, I think the six retro-curved intakes w/ individual augmenters are interesting...definitely an inspiration from Kentfield.

Cool looking engines, Injectors looked like some type of burner ring from a water heater or some thing! I would like to see the augmenters up close.

The augmentors look like they pretty much conform to Ray Lockwoods original design specs for size, shape and separation. I'd guess that info's already been posted elsewhere on the forum, but if not, see attached.

Agreed: They looked fabricated like a wing, double skinned.

Eric inspired this Idea. Tender meat.

Not that anyone would need one. I just expanded on the idea and put other things together.

I confess I have dangled meat in front of the little Termojet. It was tasty!
