Building the shrecky turbine

Yeah I came to that pretty quickly too, but I should go with the method shrecky outlined I'm trying to build this one using as few big machines as possible.
Found a bunch of articles online comparing the benefits of having the comrpessor covered in a radial turbine. Google radial turbine It was the first result for me.
Got the cover on the compressor and am wating for the cement to dry. Then I will drill back through the Carbon Fiber puddle and have it all ready to go soon...
Well my first aatempt at nthe turbine I got bored of the ahcksaw so I used to grinder, mistake for accuracy but it proved that the method works.

Now I remember why I decided not to weld on a rod!!
The id of the turbine is gonna be .25 inches, I dont feel comfortable on welding on a thinner rod to something that is going to take a lot of force during lathe work.
And I broke one of the ways...so lets stay away from lathe work for a while :)

No need for welding a rod to the disk... Make a center hole in the disk and use a live center to press it against the jaws of your chuck... extend the jaws a bit so there is a large "contact area". Nice project you have going here! =) All mine is put on hold at the moment... I need to put all my attention to getting all my welding licenses... After that then I´m going to start working on the kat turbine, the pocket bikes, yes I´m doing two bikes... one with a sidecar... And a few VPJ that needs some time to assemble...

Yeah right now I got a ramjet a turbine an r/c plane (electric) and a valveless pj with ramjet attatched...
and school and work...
I had another idea for building the turbine, gonna weld some blades to a threaded washer and nut. Wont have as much blade area as the way shrecky tells to do it but I should be able to make 2 of these easy and that will cover it.
If this thing works I doubt it will make much thrust, and its kinda small. Maybe a turbofan?

update and a bunch of pics!!
Well smothe sailing as things seem to be falling into place. Got the turbine all cut out just needs to be made circular (harder with a broken lathe) and then some bending of the blades is to be done.
Got some pics of the process and a few of the compressor as the acrylic cement capilary's its way. Some celophane tape holds it together.

Anyhow, mate thats wonderful work. That resin came out looking fantastic.
Next you just have build an inline turbine for flight :D Unless this is, I can't recall.... Its been a long day welding up a mates fence :D

oh this is the inline, wait like 5 mins for em to get these pcis resized I got the turbine and all!

You mean the subjects on the pics?
Well in the last one you can see my presice tool called a "claw".
It really is presice, I welded on a nail at just the correct angle so when it becomes parallel with the vice the blade is bent to 37 degrees :)
Other than that it is prettymuch a slotted and ground grade 8 bolt

Ok I will try...
Thanx the book has so many ideas on how you can build the thing using the most basic of tools (a lathe helps but mine just broke), has many good formulas which I cant decipher...also pictures :)
I doubt I will get to my ramjet or rc plane now that the turbine is coming together, not abandoning them just putting it off for a bit.
Speaking of which I wnna see more tests of your ramjet!!!

The turbine can be switched to spin in either direction...but the compressor spins counter clockwise, or would require a reverse threaded bolt/shaft. I dont have...
Gotta redesign or build a new comrpessor, it wont take more than a day but will most likey be stronger than flipping this oe over and filling the hole with glue.

Shaft Nut
No Zip, you got it right--counterclockwise rotation needs a standard thread, clockwise rotation needs a left-hand thread. By opposing the directions of the two it serves to lock the wheel into place and keep it from spinning off
