Fun with Latex?

Post by cbromano » Thu Jan 15, 2004 7:12 am

Tupperware just came out with new pans made of some latex type stuff. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and are about a quarter inch thick. My mother is obsessed with them because she can’t get over putting rubber in the oven and it not melting. Is there any use?
I dont have a clue how much heat they can take
I was thinking along the lines of sandwiching it between the valve head and tailpipe of a pulsejet to use as a gasket.

I don't wish to know everything.
I just wish not to be ignorant.

You might could use it for a head gasket, my 3 inch diameter pulsejet head gets ice cold with methanol flowing through it, yet the body glows a dull red hot. Gasoline burns hotter so alcohol would be better.
They also sell a mitt/glove you can put your hand in boiling oil made of silicone too.

You might could mount the jet on some of these, to absorb vibrational energy.
