Using the Berz-o-matic pulse generator, I was able to test some geometries for a high-compression prototype. Basically, I ran some propane into some structures of various geometry, pointed the pulse generator into the mouth and pulled the trigger. In a few cases, the resulting concussion was impressive.
I'll try to get a little film together and post it tomorow.
High compression demo

Re: High compression demo
Here's a small film. The device is a 1' section of 1/2" pipe joined to several sections of 1" pipe (12", 10" and 12") joined with elbow fittings. I ran MAPP into the device for about 6 seconds and then set off the ignition spark.
At bout the 7 second mark, you can see the device blast a lid from a spray paint can clean out of the view in less than one frame. I wish the frame rate was fast enough to estimate the speed, but it doesn't come close.
By the time the lid bounces back into view, it has slowed down to about 15'/s. Don't be fooled by the sound -- the noise was deafening.

Sorry, had a problem uploading. Here's a link to the file.

The film doesn't come close to demonstrating the kick this thing has.
