Apologies if this has been brought up here before but I haven’t been back here in a while!
I heard about a competition going for amateur teems to lunch a nano satellite weighing between 9.99g and 19.99g into orbit for a minimum of 9 orbits. And the winner gets…. The HUGE prize of £999.99! Not a lot for the effort but I think the real prize is in the achievement!
Would it be impossible to think there might just be enough skill and experience on this site to have a go?

john Carmack's prize of $10,000 for the first gps documented amateur rocket over 100,000ft is more like it

Those are all well and good, but there is a real chance of achieving them……
There so much more fun in attempting the near impossible surely? Or is that just me? Haha

Mmm,
I would take a few weatherbaloons and first "float" my rocket and launchplatform into the stratosphere. From there it shouldn't be "to hard" te get in orbit.

Your scepticism is fuel for my brain.

From what I can tell of people who are giving this a go the whole weather balloon method does seem to be the popular choice. But it almost feels like cheating to me! Haha
I still think should give this a go! Helps that I have access to a lot of help with the satellite design/construction and tracking!
