Fiberglass motor casing

Anyone have any thoughts on using fiberglass as a motor casing? Would heat resistant tape on the inner layer be suffiecient guard against burnthru. I'm mainly thinking of it's possible advantage over PVC in the advent of an engine failure. I would think that it would rupture, vs. fragmenting like PVC. Any thoughts?
