Candy fuel with syrup?

Post by HattoriHanzo » Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:31 pm

Anyone tried beet syrup and KNO3 as rocket fuel? Maybe this could be a nice alternative to sugar and KNO3 because it do not have to melt together.

I was going to do some thermochemical analysis of beet syrup and KNO3 but i cant find a valid chemical formula for beet syrup

I have seen some work over the internet on karo syrup and kno3, it not only works but is extremely easy to mold. It gives less power than table sugar though, but this is just from what I have read I am yet to try it.

Hope you have success.

I used to mix honey and saltpetre and get it to burn in Jetex rocket casings. It was kind of slow burning, so was probably on the weak side, but I thought it interesting that it would work. I had to use somewhat more saltpetre than if it were being melted together with sugar, but I was not making careful measurements, so the proportions are no longer known.

Interesting!

I will make some fuel and experiment.

But I am also a person who like to verify whats going on in the practical experiment, so the search goes on for a valid formula of syrup.
