Help with fuses

I am taking classes in college in electrical engineering, getting help from my teacher to get the thing wired up (we even have a buzzer to tell others when the system is armed!). He wants me to use a key to initiate launch but it is too big a hassle, just a flip switch seems better.

dude magnesium ribbon makes a nice fuse...if it dosnt melt your rocket :)

You are pretty much required by every single rocketry organization under the sun to use a key type safety system. It's a good idea, trust me.

No more hassle then a SPST switch, just a little more expensive.

But doesn't magnesium take like 10-15 seconds to ignite by ordinary lighter/match?

not with a jet lighter/micro torch.... OR if you dip the end of the MG in some Rcandy
