html and php help, please

Post by Mike Everman » Mon Feb 19, 2007 3:12 am

Anyone know why the logo I made for the main site gets crunched up? It's supposed to be 90 pixels tall. I suspect that the frame that holds top.htm is of fixed height.

I am new at this, so any help would be great.

If you ever need any help with this sort of 'stuff' feel free to give me a shout. Website development isnt my main area anymore, but I have just finished a 4-year PHP/webdev contract, so I have a general idea Image

If you would like I can PM you my 'used' email address, or msn or something to get questions answered sooner than posting here.

The new picture and logo look awesome .. but it looks a bit sort of distorted .. and non smooth lines ...
Thought I must give some feedback ... If u want I can make one exactly same in photoshop .. have some experience with it.
Looks like u made it big and then scaled it down to fit its size ... !!

Anyways .. its not the logo that counts that much .. the forum is just getting better and better!!

The template file "sub_silver" defines the layout, you can do a lot to change how the header file defines things including links and image size/placement.

But having said that be careful about altering any thing as nearly all mod files edit the template when you install them, this includes PHPBB version updates.

Short answer is yes you can make the BB look better but create a headache for your self when updating or modding;-)

A good safety tip is to install an identical test BB alongside the real BB and practice and perfect on that before copying a new file over to the real board.

Hi Mike, been busy with some new projects in the background so I have not had too much time for the last year, hopefully that will now change as we launch them pretty soon.

Odd errors?

Post by Viv » Sun Apr 01, 2007 11:53 pm

Hi, I had a look just for my own interest not as a expert but playing with forum files interests me.

one file threw some odd errors but the other seems to be bloated with Microsoft frontpage and office stuff, this seems odd as that page does not have any MS stuff in it.

Yeah, things are a mess. The MS stuff is from me using Word to edit a page.
