Oval cones
I need to design an oval cone. I tried cone designer but that's only suited for symetrical cones. when I bend it oval, I get a curve on the top and bottom. Does anyone know of a program that will let me do that EASILY?

Re: Oval cones
Oval or elleptic? If it has to be oval it should be quit simple:
Design a round cone with the radius that you want the oval to have on the round ends and cut the cone in two half cones. Then weld straight material between the half cones...

Your scepticism is fuel for my brain.

Hey Metiz
I think you must try Cone Layout, I thougt that could be done with this program

I normally use that program and it can't. no worries though, the manual way worked just finepoech prut wrote:Hey Metiz

Re: Oval cones
You can lay out a pattern in a similar way, if you need to do it with 1 weld instead of 4.
Print out the cones, and tape the two rectangles representing the straight sections to both its edges. Then tape the second cone to one of the rectangles.
If you want to do 2 welds instead of 4 and form two halves, it's even easier. Just print out one cone, and one rectangle and join their edges. This pattern can be used to mark out both halves.

No problem is too small or trivial if we can really do something about it.

It should say "half cones" in my reply instead of "cones". Sorry, can't correct it as edits aren't allowed here after a couple days.
