Just for kicks. Sorry I had to cut the size short, the original was 6 meg.

This one is blurry but faster. It was one of those rare runs where it just really kicks in. It rolls off the wheel at the last moment, that's the thud in the ending.

Jar on a wheel

Post by Mark » Fri Jan 25, 2008 5:47 pm

Not bad! I wonder if you got it up to a faster speed if you could use that to hold the liquid fuel in some advantageous position from the force of the jar spinning? Maybe it would be possible to use the centrifugal force to feed fuel to the jam jar in some unique way.
One thing that would be fun to do is make an inverted jam jar with enough thrust to lift itself off the ground. That would grab everyone's attention. Imagine the fun of watching your thin metal jar slowly lift off into the air with stability built in, to keep it self-correcting using gravity. The little jar that could. ha
