Easy cone rolling

Post by Mike Everman » Tue Nov 20, 2007 3:40 am

A couple of vice-grips, a pipe and off you go. Just put a shim of the same material you're rolling (plus a couple sheets of paper optional), and the material fits under snugly.
If you're doing thicker material, then you may need a broad lever (I'm using a galvanized strap in the photo.

I can't recommend highly enough getting a cheap spot welder to tack the lap seam together before welding up the whole motor.

A great way to build the cone roller that was presented in early posts ( Mark's??? ).
Fantastic!!!

How do you roll the sheet?
with your fingers?
i once tried to do that, with a 1mm sheet ( small diameter cone ) , and it was to hard for me ( greese monkey fingers, not the soft type 8) ).
i would like some explanation about the technique.

thank's alot Mike!

yam from Israel.

I've only been doing .035" thick soft stainless, and yes, it is mostly done by hand.

Here is my cone roller, I used bolts with one regular nut and one wing nut to secure the pipe. It works great. Thanks for sharing your design Mike. It inspired this design which has proved a valuable tool for me.
