Mike's "straight piper, spun cones.wrl" post was a VRML 1.0 file. It turns out that Octaga can only view VRML2.0 files.
I found a vrml1 to vrml2 converter here:
http://ftp.carnet.hr/misc/VRML/utilitie ... /vrml1to2/
The resulting converted file is viewable in Octaga, albeit with some warnings.
