fuel pump for a 80kg valved PJ

Post by loco » Sun Dec 03, 2006 9:25 pm

So, i'm looking to build a beefy 220lb/80Kg pulsejet, but am cncerned about fuelling. I think I'm going to need roughly 2 litres per minute of Jet-a1, but I'm not sure what sort of fuel rates car pumps have. If I picked up the pump from, say a car with a two litre engine, would it be able to provide sufficient pressure, of should I be looking for somehting a little more industrial?

I'm hoping to use two tubes as a fuel delivery sisyem, and have a bench drill set such that it just pierces a hole, maybe 0.5 across, and have many of these holes in order to maximise the spread of the fuel, since I'm using liquid.

Also, I have chosen to go with 2mm hot rolled sheet steel; will this be Ok for such an engine, do you think? I'm taking a welding course, and the instructor has said he'll allow me to use any of the equipment there to fabricate my engine, which is more than awesome.

Thanks in advance.
