Speaking of fun scrap materials to play with, I was just given 3- 6x6 plates of .05in titanium. I wish I could make a valve grid out of the stuff but the common sense in me tells me to avoid this stuff like the plague. I know people who weld the stuff for a living and would do it for me, but I have no clue of how to cut it. Anybody have any suggestions on what to do with it?

I have been wondering the same thing. I might be able to weld it myself, have a tig torch for my stick welder, and small glass beading box I could probably purge with argon to weld in. I just don't know what is required to mill it. I have a friend who is a machinist who I am going to have cut a valve plate for me, but I haven't talked to him about titanium yet.
