re: What is this thing?
Someone has writen a "question" on the auction saying:
I dont know about that! I would say this is the usual overgeneralised statement. Sub sonic ram jets that operate on propane tend to be very short for their cross section.
It looks like alloy! Although it does seem to have a plate bolted inbetween two sections, maybe the back is cast steel? The center being Reed/s? Although then the CC must be part of the tail, and this is just the reed and verturi head.
Looks to be flight ready too. Streamlined everything.
Very odd piece indeed. Anyone seen one?
Ill have a look around. Although surely i would have come across it before if it was anything common.
I can see it now i think! It must be a valved PJ head. Although the section inbetween the CC and valves as well as the spark plug position, does look odd. Maybe a cavity for valve protection?

Anyone here offer this info? This is a propane fired ram engine. It is missing the tail pipe of about 20 inches!!

re: What is this thing?
I have talked to a few old school RC airplane nuts that mistakenly refer to control line PJ planes as having ramjet engines.
It must be an odd valve head though, I think you may be right about the cavity for valve protection.
edit: just saw your last post, Rossco. Good work!

This one is strange too, really strange. If it actually works it must be like one of those old boiling gasoline pressure jet things.
