My grandfather found some of those 90deg welding bends, too, but these are already a bit rusty mild steel -- shiny new and/or stainless ones are much nicer.
I've them in IDs of ~22mm, ~38mm and ~54mm, at least if I remember right -- it's too cold and to late for measuring them outside now.

The only disadvantage is their thick wall from around two to tree milimeters -- depends on the ID. They're quite heavy thereof, but OK for experimentation.

BTW, what is the seccond odd shaped curve thing for?

To me, it looks like Mike is preparing to couple two (or more) engines together. He has said he would, elsewhere in the forum. The snaking bend looks like just the ticket...

There's a lot to be said for stainless steel "candy", the new autolite spark plugs I bought are a black color metal, (black metal oxide?) I screwed one into my snorkeler tank a few weeks ago for fun and now it is showing significant signs of rusting, (orange metal oxide), from the short time out in the elements. Yet the snorkeler tank is stainless steel and has held up for years with alcohol left in it for days and other mistreatments of rain and such when I neglect to bring it into the garage or the recent floods that submerged it on the back porch.
In short, I'd kind of like to go with stainless steel spark plugs if I had a choice.

I have to from time to time buff my spark plugs with the wire wheel I have on one side of my grinder. Methanol is really corrosive along with the water it absorbs. I just don't like the rust, you should see the amount of rust on the inside of my Autolite 3095. It is not a good presentation. There are nickel coated spark plugs and others that are not prone to such decay. For most purposes you are right, any old plug will do.
You can melt the electrode if you use a really hot spark, like from a neon sign transformer. This reminds me, one time I corroded the heck out of a brand new CM-6, not just the electrode, by running it inside of a straight narrow tube for only a few minutes testing out the durability of an igntion system. I was running it on a low 6 volts or so, the smallest transformer/charger I could fine, because the very small EMCO ignition unit tended to get very warm on one side of the potted case at the highest rating of 12 volts, so by running it on a lower voltage the case stayed relatively cool. I don't think it is made to run constantly or at the highest setting. The spark plug was eaten up, and yet the spark wasn't very hot at all, neither the plug, perhaps ozone ate away at it, I just couldn't believe the destruction of the whole surface in two minutes! I had to buff the heck out of it to get the hard oxidized layer of substance off. The Zzzz of the spark plug made an interesting sound though, stuck inside one end of the thin tubing.
Here's a stainless steel plug with a copper core, copper is almost as good as silver in conducting heat.
