I think the first Dynajet to be really "mass marketed" was the one with the rear plug; by this time, I think they'd gotten down to ten petal valves and never changed it afterward. I believe the aft-located plug either eroded or cracked badly - some story like that. I wonder what the change in plug location did for[to?] ease of starting.

Maybe Dynajet Jerry will fill us in on the real story of the rear-plug Dynajet.

It's a Bailey Pulsejet, I have one. You can interchange the parts with a Dynajet, same threadings on the fittings and head. Same reed too. The Dynajet is a red head. The body is a little different but only if you look very closely. The metering jets on the Bailey use a lot of little holes whereas the Dynajet just has two.

The bailey sold for £205 ($385), seems like quite alot.

How long do the petals last in those things?

You can have the Blue Bailey delivered to your door new for $200 in the US. I can't say how long the petals last but you get a spare set with the purchase and replacement petals from Earl Bailey are only $4.00 if I recall. That will buy you plenty of noise, more than you will probably find time for in a year. The welding job on the Bailey Jet is far smoother than the Dynajet. Each look nice to me though.

I wouldn't mind making a multi-colored anodized head and adding some variations on the theme. I could call it the Thixis Jet. My jet would come with a free long lasting jam jar. That would push those undecided buyers over the edge.

Wow, did someone pay that much for one of those ignitors? They are just gas grill ignitors that use a single small 1.5 volt battery. Perhaps this one is the same design. They are not very hot sparks, you don't need a hot spark to light propane in a gass grill, which is what they are used for.

Here's a reliable spark plug to go with the expensive igniter. Probably made of stainless steel and lots of love and aircraft regulatory mandates. Check the retail price.

Not that I have a use for this, but it somehow reminded me of a Dynajet head. You never know where some old piece of machinery will be found that could be used in pulsejet land.

Often times I think people are put off by jam jars because they seem, for lack of a better phrase -- cosmopolitan nonsense. Rural people might feel lost in the big city, navigating the streets of cadency, feedback, and resonance, let alone that Franco Marcenaro part of town where a simple wave can lead to a sex change.
We all know country folk might be able to bring something to the table, after all, working with jam jars is natural to them and they know just how important it is to get a good sealing lid. If we told them how jam jars work, how you could color the flame, I think they could handle it.
