I now concur. I just bought a Henrob 2000 and have been practicing a bit with stainless scraps. I got all 8 tips that are available so I would be able to cut and weld anything the torch is capable of. After even just a few welds I can see that this is what I have wished someone would build for many years. All other torches I have ever used were always way too big for small work. This thing makes about as much noise as a candle when welding this thin stuff. I even got an optional tip for welding jewelry. Very sweet.for $350 you seriously can't beat the Henrob torch.
The first photo shows a three inch weld of a lap joint of .035 stainless using a 1/16" 308 Tig rod with the special tip for 20 ga. This is the ninth practice piece I tried and I can already see big improvements. Follow the (very detailed) instructions, get the regulator pressures correct, use the correct tip, correct angle and distance from the work, and presto, it welds!
The second photo shows a mild steel washer out of the trash can welded (308 Tig rod) to .035 stainless just to see how dissimilar metals would act. No problem. Then, just for fun, I picked up a piece of bare 14ga. solid copper wire and used it for a welding rod on the washer. I don't know of any useful purpose for this but it sure made a pretty weld.
The torch will not weld Titanium or cut stainless steel. I don't plan any Titanium welds and I'm going to get a shear to cut stainless so these are not major drawbacks for me. All in all the torch set is a very good deal for me . Thank you Mike for making me aware of it. One note before anyone orders one for themselves. Don't just order it from the web-site. Call Jim at the number on the web-site and talk to him personally. He probably will give you a little better deal than is advertised just for calling. Tell him you read about it on the Pulse Jet web-site. I'm not a dealer, and I don't get kick-backs for recommending this. It's just an unusually good product that I'm very impressed with and I'm very hard to impress with tools and equipment.
