One might be tempted to use the very small mm size as a fuel line, in keeping with the clarity. $50 minimum order

Here's a good sized hunk of quartz. Might be fun for some sort of something.

Ben wrote:Punch quartz into the search at http://www.mcmaster.com/ and it will come up with a page that has quartz thread. "PTFE-Coated Quartz Thread- Made of very fine continuous filaments, this thread will not burn. It resists acids, alkalis, and the build-up of contaminants. Maximum temperature is 2000° F. Color is tan."

Code: Select all

Diameter yds/spool tensile strength in lbs $
0.014" 100 12 18.69
0.017" 100 20 24.33
I'm sure someone could think of a fun application for unburnable thread in a pulse jet.
How about a flexible fuel line [i.e. hose] with a thick outer braid of this stuff? You could let it lie right next to the hot shell of your engine with no worries.
