There are plenty of pre-designed, pre-tested axial flow micro turbine plans available mania (cheap too, $20 USD or less). You can try some simple ones. Looks for the designs by Kamps, or the Schreckling FD3/64. You can find both in book format from most commercials book sellers. (Wooden/Composite compressor wheels)

has a large selection.

Might save you some time. It's the balance of the axial flow turbine that will drive you crazy, as well as the proper lubrication of the race and ceramic bearings. I've seen engines literally explode in seconds after ignition because they generated so much friction.
