I learned two or three model gas turbines are enough to fly a man on lightweight aircraft.
Small turbine making is a headache and
I remembered a Tesla Turbine toy which I played with when I was a child. It was a small cylinder and inside a circular disk with 4 circular big holes. When you push pull air , it was rotating like a crazy and produce wonderful jet noise.
Can I use this concept at my model gas turbine ? How it compares with original turbine rotor ? How it is engineeered ?
Any input is welcome !
Thank you ,

Re: Large holes tesla turbine toy for micro GT
Tesla turbines moving gases are considerably less efficient than a conventional staged fan or centrifugal impellers. On the hot end of a gas turbine they are a disaster as the thin webs and large holes make them structurally weak and very prone to warping / disintegrating.
