Jet-man Rossy fails in cross continental flight

Post by astro380 » Thu Nov 26, 2009 1:34 pm

From wiki :

On 25 November 2009 Yves Rossy tried an intercontinental crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar and to be the first person to fly between two continents using a jetpack. He left a from a small plane about 1,950m (6,500ft) above Tangier in Morocco and set off for Atlanterra in Spain; the flight was expected to take about a quarter of an hour; but he failed due to strong winds and banks of cloud and ditched into the sea, and ten minutes later was picked up by a helicopter 3 miles from the coast of Spain and was flown to a hospital in Jerez in Spain; he was unhurt. The Spanish Coast Guard plan to retrieve his jetpack (which had a parachute and a float).

He plans to jetpack fly across the Grand Canyon in Colorado in the USA.
